Bio

I was born in Regina , Saskatchewan , I moved to Calgary in 1991, and into my present home in 1997, residing there for the past 13 years. Four of my children, along with their families live right in Calgary, with one of my sons in McKenzie Towne, where he and his wife operate a photography business.

I have received my Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Regina. and my Masters of Education from the University of Calgary.

I have spent 31 years in educating today's youth as 21 st century learners. The first 18 years were as a school teacher, followed by 6 years as a school administrator and, for the past 7 years, as a school Principal.

I have always had great appreciation and respect for our military but the death of my nephew, Cpl Shane Keating , who was killed in action in 2006, while serving in Afghanistan, prompted me to become more involved. I am one of the co-founders of FIRMM (Families in Rememberence of Military Members) whose aim is to:

1. Educate fellow Canadians about the military within Canada, while emphasizing our soldiers as family members and that they did make a difference.

2. Support family sponsored events in remembrance of fallen soldiers.

3. Support Canadian veterans with an emphasis on wounded soldiers.

4. Support reconstruction in Afghanistan.

My most recent community involvements include:

1. SECRS - South East Calgary Recreation Society

2. Shepard Enmax Power Community Advisory Group

3. Shepard Community Association President

4. Committee Member - South Shepard Area Structure Plan

5. FIRMM Foundation Founder
